The planets of Cultist Astronaut consist of ominous cults, twisted abominations, and hazardous locations to tackle.
Excoria, once a simple mining outpost, became the foundation of the Flayed Cult. As miners unearthed a statue of a skinless deity, they were struck with the Rockskin disease, turning their skin to stone. In their search for relief, they found that shedding their hardened skin brought momentary respite and spiritual clarity. Thus, the Flayed Cult was born, centered around this act of purification. Led by the Flayed King, they believe in a prophecy: the return of the Great Skinless One who will cleanse the galaxy. Their rituals are intense, and their faith, unwavering.
You can also visit Sludge Haven, the home of the Imposters, where you fight Nobodies, Somebodies, Anybody, and Everybody. This place is infested with worm-like aliens who have lost all sense of self. To fill this void, they started mimicking the personalities and lifestyles of others, which eventually consumed them and caused the downfall of their society. They even scavenge for junk and corpses to further their identities!
