据说远古时期，在艾雷赛亚这片大陆上，魔物横行，普通人类完全不是凶残魔物的对手。最终在女神的帮助下，人类击败了魔物，封印了魔王，过上了安稳的生活。
随着人类的高速发展，城邦开始建造起来，不同信仰的人互相聚集，最终形成了3个国家。分别是大陆北方的贝伦帝国，大陆南方的克米利亚王国和大陆西方的洛特王国。由于洛特王国中几乎全是洛特一族的人，加上他们都有罕见的红色头发，所以又被称为红发一族。贝伦帝国虽然领土面积最大，但大多是环境极其恶劣的山地和冰原，所以为了扩张领土经常和南方的克米利亚国王发生冲突。但是因为有中立的洛特王国在，三个国家之间保持着一个微妙的平衡，并没有发生大规模的战争。
然而200多年前，大陆爆发了一场空前灾难，洛特王国从此消失在历史的长河中。有传言说是洛特一族招致的这场灾难，侥幸存活下来的洛特族人成为不祥的代名词，其他人纷纷远离和鄙视他们，称他们为灾难招致者。
洛特王国的消失使之前的三方平衡被打破，此后贝伦帝国和克米利亚王国之间爆发过多次战争，不少人在战争中失去了生命。直到魔法师们组建了魔法联盟，宣布将主动侵略他国者视为敌人。由于人群中只有少数天资聪慧的人才能掌握魔法这种强大的力量，因此新的三方平衡重新建立。为了魔法得以传承，魔法联盟设立了魔法学院，招收那些拥有魔法潜质的人并培养他们。魔法联盟这一举措得到了贝伦帝国和克米利亚王国的大力支持，而魔法学院也从一开始只传授魔法知识变成几乎所有学科都教的大陆最高综合性学府。
