Seal of Solitomb is an expanded version of Solitomb, a free PICO-8 solitaire roguelike that you can play right now in your browser.
Since you're on this page, chances are you already know and like the original. If that's the case, welcome! The expanded version will keep the same style of gameplay and build upon it, so it should be right up your alley.
If you don't know the original Solitomb yet, check it out - it's free! Typing its name into a search engine should let you find it easily, or you can click "Visit the website" in the right-hand column.
Bringing a PICO-8 game onto a bigger canvas takes time. For now, this page shows you screenshots and footage from the browser version, but the graphics are getting a complete overhaul. The original visuals still give you the right idea of what the game is and how it plays. As development of Seal of Solitomb progresses, new shiny assets will replace the current ones.
Solitomb is already an awesome little game, but it can be so much more! The harsh limits of PICO-8 meant that many ideas had to be left out in anticipation of the bigger version.
Seal of Solitomb will feature:
The same exhilarating gameplay: stacking cards, setting up sweet combos, optimizing your build, dealing with devious monsters and an impatient demon, it's all going to be there!
More stuff to get, try and do. The browser version had 15 elite monsters, 4 classes and 60 abilities. The plan is to increase these numbers at least 4x to enable new interesting builds and synergies, while also adding new card types and game modes.
More variety for the character classes, providing them with different starting decks and unique card types.
A campaign mode that takes you out of the dungeon. Each new location comes with its own set of themed monsters, quests and challenges to overcome: things like a holy tree that you have to reach without spilling any blood or a river of lava that makes moving cards tricky. Still keeping it straight and to the point, with scenarios taking 30 to 60 minutes to complete.
A daily and weekly challenge mode so you can test your skills against others around the globe.
The classic roguelike mode will of course be there as well, with quick 30-minute runs.
And, as mentioned above, the graphics, music and user interface are all getting a significant upgrade, building on the style and mood established by the original.
If you like what you're seeing, wishlist the game! That way you'll be notified once the project is complete. You can also follow the development on Bluesky, Mastodon or Twitter, or join our Discord - links are in the column on the right.
See you in the dungeon,
